As a member of the Community Gardening Committee, you will help plan, maintain, and promote a sustainable garden at Camp Carter YMCA. This includes hands-on gardening, organizing workshops, and fostering community involvement. Commitment: Volunteer, 4-6 hours per month Reports to: Committee Chair/YMCA Staff Liaison Key Responsibilities: • Garden Care: Assist with planting, upkeep, and harvest of the garden. • Workshops & Events: Help organize and participate in educational events. • Sustainability: Promote eco-friendly practices like composting and water conservation. • Community Engagement: Encourage involvement from YMCA members and volunteers. • Produce Distribution: Support the donation of garden produce to local food banks or programs. Qualifications: • Enthusiasm for gardening and community service. • Strong communication and teamwork skills. • Willingness to learn and engage with others. Safety Information Includes (but not limited to): • Must complete waivers, training and background check sufficiently • Recommended to wear clothing to protect yourself • Familiarity or experience with gardening is preferred • All volunteer opportunities are outdoors

Volunteer must let staff know if they are no longer interested in filling a position so that staff can help to fill-in.
