If a board member needs to step down before completing their term, we ask that they notify the Board Chair and Executive Director in writing, ideally providing at least 30 days’ notice. This allows time for a smooth transition and continuity of leadership. In the resignation letter or email, the member should include their intended effective date and, if possible, any helpful context for the transition. We encourage members to complete any outstanding responsibilities and assist in handing off committee work, as well as share key contacts or information that will support ongoing efforts. Any YMCA materials should be returned, and while we never want to lose a valued board member, we hope they will remain connected to Camp Carter as a volunteer or advocate for our mission.
