2026 Winter Basketball Coach

Northwest YMCA

We are looking for dedicated and enthusiastic volunteer coaches and assistants to help lead our 2026 Winter Basketball season. Coaches have an essential role in fostering a positive and safe environment where players can learn, develop their basketball skills, cultivate teamwork, and build confidence. Key responsibilities: Lead practices and games for your assigned team. Teach fundamental basketball skills and encourage player's growth. Foster teamwork, sportsmanship, and a positive attitude. Communicate with parents and program staff as needed. Ensure player safety and adherence to league rules. Assistant Coaches will support the Head Coach with drills, practices, and game-day management. Time Commitment: Practices: 1 evening per week and 1 game on Saturday. Roughly 3 hours per week Games: Saturdays, beginning in January through March 2026. Season runs approximately 8–10 weeks. Qualifications: No prior coaching experience required—we will provide training and resources. Reliable, positive, and committed to the team’s development.

Camp Carter offers a variety of meaningful volunteer projects that support our mission and enhance the experience for campers, guests, and staff. Whether you're looking to engage with youth, contribute behind the scenes, or lend a hand outdoors, there's a role for everyone. Below are our current volunteer opportunities: Greeting & Guiding Groups Help create a warm and welcoming environment by greeting school and retreat groups upon arrival and assisting with wayfinding across camp. This role is vital during Outdoor Education (OE) sessions, typically weekdays from 9:00 AM–2:00 PM. Volunteers are needed regularly throughout the school year. Assist with Meal Service Support our kitchen team by helping serve meals during OE lunch shifts (11:30 AM–12:30 PM) and other retreat programs. This is a great way to contribute during short, high-impact windows. Trail Clearing Join us in maintaining safe and scenic trails by helping remove debris, trim overgrowth, and improve pathways. Ideal for small groups, this project is flexible and best suited for weekends or OE off-days. Handy-Man / Honey-Do Tasks Put your fix-it skills to work! Volunteers assist with light maintenance tasks such as repairs, installations, and general upkeep. These can be scheduled flexibly or as part of monthly workdays. Manual Labor Projects Help keep Camp Carter beautiful and functional through hands-on tasks like painting, power washing, leaf blowing, and more. These projects are great for groups and typically scheduled on weekends or OE off-days. Administrative Support Assist our team with essential office tasks such as scanning, filing, shredding, and donor thank-you calls. This role can be done on-site or remotely and is perfect for volunteers who prefer indoor or flexible work. STEM or Nature Activity Volunteers Lead engaging, short-form educational activities for youth during OE sessions. Volunteers facilitate hands-on learning in STEM or nature topics, weekdays from 9:00 AM–2:00 PM.
